Getting to know my grandsons - a wonderful treat!

I love being a grandma. It is hard when all my grandchildren live so far away, so when I get the chance to come visit I want every possible moment to get to know them. Linken loves his brother and wants to be with him ALL the time. He think his baby brother should be big enough to play with his toys and he is so willing to share them. He doesn't understand why Grayson doesn't catch them when he tosses them to him. He wants to carry him - scary! Grayson just sits there as Linken pokes at his face to show us his eyes, nose, chin, etc. . . or yanks on his hand so he can bring it close to his face to kiss it. Nikki has her hands full as she teaches Linken to gently love his brother while she must keep both eyes on Grayson to protect him.

While most of my time was spent entertaining Linken, I cherish the precious moments I spent with Grayson. He loved to be held and it was so fun to cuddle with him.

I took many pictures of this new little guy but this was one of my favorites. It is a horrible habit to brake so I never let my babies do it but it is so adorable when newborns find their thumb,

Linken is so much like his daddy as he pushes his luck to see how far he can go without totally breaking the rules. This car was very entertaining for him as it broke the rules of gravity as it climbed up the refrigerator. I love how he is working so hard to make it work like his daddy did.

Playing at the park was one of my favorite activities. Linken was so fun to watch as he played on the toys and interacted with other childern at the park. This was my favorite. As he put his head down he would look at me and say, "Hi Nana" then giggle. Just like his daddy, he knew how to touch my heart.

It was fun to be there for Linken's birthday. His mommy (who is not a fan of baking, cooking etc. . .) made his cake. It was super yummy Nikki and I know when he grows up and looks back at these pictures he will know how much his mommy loves him to get up after just having a c-section to make this very special cake.

Linken and I spent one day at the zoo. I let him lead the way and it was so fun to watch him discover the animals, plants, and rocks along the way.

Nikki you are a good mommy I know these next two months will be a challenge so just remember I am just a skype connection away.

I hope your Christmas was as wonderful as mine. This was going to be another Bah-hum-bug because all my kids could not be together. However, having Derek home from a two year mission has taken the Bah - out of our Bah-hum-bug Christmas. It is so nice to have him home. Yesterday was such a fun day, attending church, skyping, exchanging gifts, eating yummy food, and playing games.

I love this new craze of "The Elf on the Shelf" I wish one of those magical elves woud have found there way to my grand children's home. Many of you have shared stores of what these fun elves have done in your homes. It sound so fun. I am sure you will want to preserve these memories. Leslie has created this layout for her grandson and his elf Allan. Great job Leslie!

This weekend has been super crazy. Thursday my best friend, Michelle came in to watch the store so all of my family could be present at the airport when my son Derek came home from his 2 year mission. She did an amazing job. I need to do some catch-up. Life is crazy as you all know and Scrappy decided to help make it even crazier by chewing on my computer power cord. So while I am here in Indiana making memories with my granddaughter and her family I will post some back post of the weekly layouts from the past.

My visit started an introduction of our newest Allen addition. We like to call him "little man" it works because we called Tori "baby girl"
Tori and I have been busy doing fun things every day, like coloring princess pictures with magic markers
Shopping for new big girls clothes, baby Garrett clothes, and a "pretty dress for Daddy" and of coarse something new for Tori's fantastic mommy. All shopping days should end with a special lunch date that includes chicken nuggets, french fries and a "wee slide"

We had a great time
but my favorite part of each day was to watch Tori play with her toys. I love how she lines them up in a row everywhere, the bookshelves, windows, bathtub and even "Mama's" computer.

My heart already aches at the thought of going home. I am so thankful for my family and friends back in Texas who are running Scrapp'n Savvy so I can make these memories with my children and grandchildren.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month Leslie created this layout. If any of you know Leslie, you know she is an "over achiever". She hand stitched every heart shaped yo-yo in these kits. Her mom Mom (Helen) made the Pink Breast Cancer Ribbons. She has made these ribbons to make earrings, and to string onto a bookmark. She makes items for the Women's Atrium at Houston NW, and has for years. She makes drainage pouches, bookmarks, ribbons, wraps, journals, pillows, pillowcases, tote bags, and a number of other items. So you can see the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Thank you Helen and Leslie for this beautiful page.

To you who are reading this and have been effected by breast cancer our prayers are with you and your loved ones. I know this journey is hard. Fight like a girl! We are on your side!

Following in his older sister's foot steps, this sweet baby boy comes to join us 22 days early. As you know I was so looking forward to being there and helping with Tori. I guess it wasn't meant to be. They have some great friends that were there for them and I will still join them in a few days to meet this young man. I loved this picture. It brought tears to my eyes. I was flooded with the memories of when each one of my boys was placed in my arms for the first time.

Getting caught up. After the Sampler I had to jump right into designing and kitting Lickety Slip. Most of you have met Alec my handy helper. He jumped up to the task to start designing my weekly layout. It seems I over looked that it was my turn. I loved his use of the colors and the title he choice. I know it will be a great home for the pictures of my grand kids trick-or treating this year.

Scrapp'n Sampler

Thank you so much for coming and playing with us today. And thanks to all who made it a point to make cards for Stephen. Here are the pictures of the pages we did as promised. Tomorrow I will type in some instructions to go with them.

I will update them as I get each one done. The pages have been posted in a random order. Have fun creating. . . look forward to seeing you again.

On the canvas layout the first thing you need to do is punch a decorative border on one short side of the Bazzill Ruby Slipper (red cardstock).
Adhere the lace to the back side of the bottom of the punch Ruby Slipper.
Use Fabri-tac to adhere the Ruby Slipper to the canvas just right of the binding holes with the punched edge on the right.
Add your Authentique "Wonder" Curiosity printed paper to the Ruby Slipper for a photo mat
Use glue dots to adhere the ribbon to the bottom of the photo mat.
Add flourish, flower and die-cuts.

The Authentique "Wonder" Awe printed paper (music notes) and adhere it to the back side of the bottom so that music notes show through the acrylic.
Use the other prints and cardstock die-cut strips and adhere them to the left side of the acrylic page.
Use an craft knife to clean up the paper that covers the holes
Use a pop-dot to adhere the die-cut deer and Bazzill flower.
The die-cut title and photo mat.

Use Fabri-tac to adhere the photo mat, tree and die-cut title strip to the felt tag.
To make the bunch bow, thread the read wire ribbon thru the hole of the felt tag and tie a knot. lay the other ribbons over the knot and tie them into the knot using the red wire ribbon. Fluff up the ribbon and trim them so that the ones on top are shorter than the ones on bottom. Tie the ornament onto the end of the wire then curl the wire by wrapping it around a small dowel

Adhere the template cut strips to he upper and lower part of the 6x6 Ruby Slipper Bazzill Cardstock. Paint the chipboard edges with gold paint and the adhere the 6x6 layout to the center. Use pop-dots to adhere the flower and the die-cut oval.

Use your favorite punch to punch a decorative edge to the Authentique printed strip. Adhere a 4x4 photo to the upper left corner of the cardboard page. The punched strip is tucked slightly under the photo and glued vertically to the layout. Add die-cuts and I-Top flower to they layout as desired.

I loved Homecoming week while I was in High School and I love it even more now that my kids are in high school. Spirit week is my favorite, I loved to dress up in fun costumes with my friends and I really loved helping and watching my boys come up with costumes of their own. My oldest is a high school science teacher and he dressing up for his school spirit week. Something you just have to scrapbook. Here is a layout to help you capture those fun memories.

A prayer goes out to those who are suffering from the fire and drought that is plagued our sweet Texas home. My heart aches for you and your family. I hope relief comes soon.
I know this cool weather is a small blessing for those fighting the fires. I personally loved waking to the crisp cool air. It gave me hope that this heat wave will leave for good! Jenaye and Kelli Collins shared their flower making skills. These flowers were so much fun to make.

Janet Hopkins taught some fun techniques as we made this shadow box. I really loved the idea and wanted to be able to hang this in my room so I spent a good portion of the class in the store buying product to change the colors to match my room. Thanks Janet for a super fun class. I hope to be able to sweet talk her into coming down to teach a Scrapp'n Savvy.

I skipped out on a class to spend some time at the pool with Linken and his great parents. I so wish I could have more time with him so he could get to know his grandma in Texas and how much I love him. Being a grandma is amazing, being a long distant grandma stinks!

My niece Heidi did a great job and had some fun techniques to share in making her famous totally Heidi big signs.

Another favorite and you will bet that we will be playing with this concept some more at Scrapp'n Savvy. Amy is not only super talented but super fun teacher. It is a treat to be in any class Amy teaches.

It was time for closing and we always start the last dinner with dessert first. Yum! This dessert looked so pretty I just had to take a picture.

Tons of prizes given away and Margie was the MC. So super funny! I can't wait to see what Bazzill and Margie come up with in the next release. With Margie on the team I know it will be fantastic. She got her start working with Marti at her store. I loved attending her class then. Her teaching style is a hoot and her creativity is fantastic. You go girl!!!!

Heidi was the keynote speaker to close the event. Very fitting beings that Creative Escape was Heidi's idea. She shared some touching stories and made us all feel good about what we do as paper crafters.

You know it is truly over when you see the bell boys helping every one down to the shipping area. Yes it looks like my good friend Karen and Melanie had a great time again this year. HeHeHeHe. . .

You know "Mr Bazzill" always says, "Ship home the clothes and pack the projects and product.

What a fun six years. It didn't matter if I was working as a volunteer or attending as a student. I loved every minute of this event. Thanks Bazzill crew and Heidi!

Ali Edwards Class

In Ali's class we played with some fun wax, glimmer mist and embossing to make the numbers.
She had some great ideas to journal. I love that she encourages to journal.

This was my favorite class of all. I not only loved Karen's style of teaching but I also love interactive things and this was amazing. I am hoping to get her to teach here at Scrapp'n Savvy.
You all have to meet her. So much fun!!!

A designer from Canada was fun and had some great ideas using masks crayons and distress ink to make these adorable layouts

Thanks Vicki, you did a great job and it was a delight to be in your class.

Friday night extravaganza was designed by Canvas Corp and Heidi set us all in the mood sharing some fantastic Halloween ideas.

I had to finish it that night so Pat and I stayed up until 1:30 AM to finish! Go us!

Day 1 of Creative Escape!

The first day was the Bazaar. There the sponsors had booth's set up with demo, make-n-takes, and gifts. It was fun chatting with them and thanking them for helping this event happen.

Doug had his car there for pictures. This is his dream car. He bought it about four years ago and had it restored. It just got done. It made a perfect photo ob!

Off to Creative Escape . . .

It is 4am and mom, dad and I are off to Arizona for the last Creative Escape. This time taking my parents van. Dad just got his truck back from Mississippi and it is running great but he thinks it needs new tires before we take it for another road trip.

In route we stopped at one of mom's favorite places, Wildseed Farms, to stretch our legs. OH MY, this is a very dangerous place. So many fun and pretty things to temp you to open your pocket book. I did find something I could not live without. Bluebonnet seeds. Dad is going to turn the back field into an ideal bluebonnet field for pictures. Yeah for dad. I know the rain has been bad this year but hopefully dad and his dedication to Scrapp'n Savvy will help us keep that fun Texas tradition alive for 2012.

Mom and I both have a hard time with sitting without something to do so yes as soon as the sun was up we were Scrapp'n! Mom made some beautiful layouts for Millie "Q" and I made a Bobunny mini book for a store sample so much fun! Don't you love how mom used her space? Sticking stuff to the window was an awesome idea. She is the best!

Well the music stopped playing when we arrived in Lordsburg New Mexico. The blue van died! Ugh! The alternator went out and there was no place in Lordsburg to fix it. The auto mechanic gave the battery a good charge and said IF you don't run the AC or anything but the engine you MIGHT make it to Deming Arizona 80 miles away. So with a prayer in our hearts we headed for Deming. The blue van died as we pulled into the Auto place. What a blessing. They had us up and going in two hours! YEAH for Mills Auto place!

Arrived at Bazzill just in time to play. Bazzill puts on a to-do-lah for the store owner who attend Creative Escape. Mom and I made some fun projects using all the new Bazzill lines . . .so much fun!

Sorry for the delay. Debra is feeling a bit under the weather and could get her design so those of you who were looking forward to her layout she will get one done at a later date. Mom designed this layout. She had pulled some of the Bazzill prints to make a layout but it didn't really come together for her until her Cricut class with Carol. Carol designed the purse and it was part of her Cricut Cartridge class using Kate's ABC's. She had used some of the papers mom had chosen so . . . the purse became mom's inspiration.

I want to thank all who endured the HOT store and crop room this weekend. The air conditioner broke. We now have a new unit to help us escape the heat a play. Thank you Jim Dolan from Clean Breeze who come to the rescue. You are my hero!

Our 50's attire is packed and we are off to Creative Escape for an amazing scrapbooking adventure. I will be doing post to share the experience with all of you. Thank you Alec, Margene and Susan for watching the store while we are gone.

It may still be super hot out but we know summer will come to an end soon. A sure sign that Summer is over is seeing the schools buses back on the road, the school supplies are all over the stores and you may just be on the verge of strangling on of those little darlings. For me, it has been one of the best summers ever! Susan has created an adorable layout to capture those special memories.

The road trip begins

Dad and I were up early finishing the last minute packing before it was time to get the boys. My boys have been gone for the past week on a road trip with the church youth, learning and studying church history and seeing historical sites. We will be picking them up from one road trip then head onto another to Florida.

Dillon thought it would be best to sleep right through it. However he did wake to join in singing with us and to watch some Harry Potter.

The rain was super scary. I was so glad my dad was here pulling this trailer in the rain. It was hard to see and the lightening was all around us. Yuck!!

The KOA campground was so cute. We got set up had dinner and went to bed.

In the morning we started our day with a walk to the beach. What a fun campground.

We are all excited to get back in the truck because our next stop . . . Disney Fort Wilderness Campground - WHOOT - WHOOT!!

Day 3 of CHA

Today is the last day of CHA a bitter sweet I think. I love, love seeing all the new and getting so much inspiration from the top designers, but my brain is on overload. I am excited to go home and share what I have learned.

Zva had some new crystal and pearl flourishes that I thought would make a great addition to our embellishment selection.

Susan, the owner and a Texan helped me with my order. They have some new home decor pieces. She was at CKC in The Woodlands and will be coming to the San Marcus convention to teach. She is also making a sample for Scrapp'n Savvy.

One of American Craft's new release was designed by Amy Tangerine. By request I bought her line. It is super cute.

Not sure what happened to my camera but as you can see from this picture something is not right. I lost my picture of me and Tim Holtz as well as other companies we bought from today. We ordered from Ranger, Bazzill, Buttons Galore, Lily Bee, and Epiphany,

Queen Co. had some fun Disney inspired embellishments that will go great with the Disney paper we have already.

Well the day ended with Michelle and I helping my family take down the Bazzill booth and a crazy late dinner. Crazy because it is just plain fun to be with my family and crazy Mona and Frani. I think it took over an hour to get our food but we were well entertained by Boss, my brother, Mona and Frani.

Day 2 of CHA!

Day 2 had an early start with my Rep, Kathy Prat. Most of the booths were not open but with her we were able to help ourselves. It was nice not having a crowd to deal with. Didn't have to share (hehehehe)

Remember the last sampler and the fun it was playing with canvas? Well I made a small order at Canvas Corp to bring in some of there new things to play with. I think you will like them.

Ribbon - ribbon - ribbon . . . we love ribbon. I was able to find a few "Must Have" ribbons to add to our ribbon wall.

So bright and cheery! I thought BoBunny's new release was adorable and fun. Picked out some stuff for Danae and her Jr. Scrappers

Totally unique release that I think many of you will love. I know Audrey plans on using it in her upcoming classes.

My favorite. . . Fabscrap -this HOT company from South Africa had the best stuff. We had to have it. I couldn't get pictures in the booth too many people. You can find them on facebook. I bought the Vintage Baby line and the Heritage line.

A little fun to break up the day. . .

Last stop for the day was Notion's. Ordering with them was so fun. Austin, my rep, let us take this scanner around to all the booths and all I had to do was scan a bar code to make my order. Notions is a distributor so they carry a lot of products from several companies. I am able to order smaller quantities and I don't have to worry about meeting each vender's minimum order. This way I can still bring in fun things like the new Martha Stewart Fiskar and EK punches!

After our order was complete Austin took us to an amazing steak dinner. Plus he gave me some goodies for you all. I love giving out door prizes!

Day 1 of CHA!

The wait begins as all the retailers gather at the main entrance of the trade show hall. It was so fun seeing other store owners and chatting with them about their plans. We could hear the bagpipes and drums playing in the hall and it just raised the level of excitement.

When 10:00 came the bagpipe band had reached the main entrance and the ribbon was cut with some big fancy scissors. Finally we were able to enter. . .

The first stop was the Bazzill booth to see my Brother to wish him a Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday Mr. Bazzill! I love you!

Several companies were having a first day only special. So my plan was to meet with each one of my reps that had a company offering this special. So Bo-bunny was first. I am excited that all of the new BoBunny is one it's way to Scrapp'n Savvy. Click on BoBunny to check it out.

Howard was next with We R. There I made a cute candy bag while I waited for Howard. I am super excited about some of their new tools. If you loved their sew easy, you will really love the Sew Ribbon and my non-sewing friends will love the sew-stamper - What am I saying I love to sew and I totally love this sew stamper! Lunch with Kim with Margene on the phone as we made some plans for the Kaiser Kreation's upcoming classes. We have some fun projects planned. Whoot Whoot!

On my way to Bella Blvd. I ran into Echo Park. I ordered for Audrey's class not sure when we will have here class. We will be making some date adjustments due to the early arrival of Kyler Alan Yeager born today at 4:18 pm weighing in at 5lbs. 12oz. Wow so tiny and 23 days early. What a surprize. Mom and baby are doing great! July's class that was scheduled next week will be change. In that class she is using some Jillibean Soup. And the August class she will be using Echo Parks Victoria Gardens. Super cute! I also ordered their Halloween and Christmas lines. Super Cute!

Bella new lines were to tempting to pass up. Stephanie herself help me with my order. She was so nice.

Fun things we saw along our travels

Chicago through my eyes

Good Morning, Today we walked over to the Rosemont Convention Center to pick up our badges and check out some of the classes being offered. I am super excited!

Not to thrilled with most of the topics we moved on to plan B. On the plane I sat next to a sweet couple who had just gotten engaged. They are from Chicago and the told me I really needed to see the city, if nothing else I need to see the "Bean" and eat at Due's Pizzeria. So we walked to the "L" train station hopped on the Blue Line to downtown. . .

Yep the Bean is a giant metal bean. Because of it's shape and reflective material it is breathtaking to see. Every angle gave you a new perspective of the city as well as your own shape - way cool
Like I said . . . breath taking! While at the train station this very helpful young man helped us with the selection of our ticket and shared with us that there was an amazing new statue in town to check out as well. . .

This forty foot life like statue of Marilyn Monroe was stunning. Every detail was so real. The man in the redish shirt behind me was on the phone telling his buddies and he was looking at this beautiful girl's panties (yes, cloth like lacy panties) and then I heard him say, "No' I am not in a bar this early in the morning" So fun to hear the comments of the people.

Just like Texas, Chicago was under a heat advisory and boy was I hot and miserable. Yet I didn't want to walk back to the train station to go home. I wasn't hungry yet and I wanted to have true Chicago style pizza. So we took a 90 minute boat tour of the town.

We learned so much about the city and how it was built and here are some of my favorite views

These are know as the Corn on the Cob Towers.

This river through Chicago used to be a polluted waste and they went on this big campaign to clean it up. As a result the Chicago River Walk was created and along this walk there is a beautiful fountain that shoots across the river every hour

Feeling a bit hungry after the we get off the boat headed to Due's
We shared a salad and an individual size Numeral Uno . . .
After our yummy true Chicago style pizza dinner we went back to Millennium Park to check out the Crown Fountain. This was the only site we had a hard time finding. It is really cool in that it projects different pictures on the 2 fountains. There were kids running all around playing.

In our search to find the best view of the city's skyline we stumbled across this amazing fountain. It is called Buckingham Fountain. It is huge and it had a changing pattern with lights and water flow. Michelle and I enjoyed the cool mist coming from the fountain while we watched the changing fountain.

I loved the city so much and the unique buildings I wanted to stay to see the city skyline all lit up. I had a cool video of the skyline but I can't quite figure out how to post it. Sorry!

A special thanks to Shira, my plane buddy for encouraging me to see their city.

I am taking my two youngest for the first time and I plan on using this layout.

CHA here I come. I have gone to this event many many times all on Bazzill ticket to help my brother in his booth. Helping many store owners buy cardstock and fun embellishments for their store. This time I am going as a store owner and I am both nervous and excited. Why nervous? That is simple I want Scrapp'n Savvy to have the perfect mix to help all of you preserve your memories using the latest and greatest product out there. Feel free to post a comment as I bring you along with my daily post from Chicago. You want me to check out any booth let me know! Excited???? We that is no brainer I LOVE the creative energy at these conventions. Mingling with the most gifted and talented in this industry. Plus I love the smell of paper! Whoot Whoot.

Well I just arrived after a great flight. Found my shuttle with ease. Walked into a pretty room with a great view and thought I would unpack . . . well my shampoo exploded UGH!!!!!!!! Apparently you need a fresh hefty zip-lock. All but two outfits were covered with slimy shampoo. Oh the Suds! So I am off to a great start!!!!

Tomorrow before class we, my friend Michelle and I, will head to down town to check out "The Bean" and eat some true Chicago Pizza for lunch.

I will post the weekly layout in the morning. It is an adorable Disney themed page and Margene did a great job!

This weekend was our Scrapp'n Sampler and we made a home decor project. Everyone including my teachers. We learned how fun it was to emboss on canvas, mix different prints, color with Copic Markers, make a bird's nest to create an amazing work of art!

This one was mine and the one they all had to use for their inspiration. I love how each and everyone of you creative people took this project and made it your own. The creative energy was amazing here at Scrapp'n Savvy all weekend and it was delightful!

You may ask what is a "workation" Well I think this is a made up word by my Douglas. They think vacation means work! I guess we spent to many school breaks painting, remodeling, build fences, gardening, etc... They are now grown men, husbands and fathers and live in different states yet their mom still begs for help. I am so proud and happy that they are my boys and are willing to help me. It was so fun seeing them work together with their grandfather. These very important men in my life are building that "playhouse" promised to me by Santa Clause so many years ago. This my friends is worth the wait.

One brick at a time we will build this "playhouse" so all who needs a place to be inspire and create will have a place to play.

Here my boys are building the south wall. Soon we will have bedrooms! Yeah!

What an exciting time in the life of a student, his parents and all who helped them in their journey. Truly an event worthy to be preserved. Millie designed this graduation layout to help all who want to record these special memories. This year I have a two sons graduating. One is finishing high to begin his journey in the adult world and my oldest son finished his second masters and is teaching high school science.

Hope you all enjoyed your Mother's day. For me it was a perfect day. Church was awesome. I had breakfast in bed and received a much needed point and shoot camera that can be with me at all times.

We were all able to speak to Elder Allen who is serving a mission for out churchI had a pretty flower to wear to church. . .
A yummy dinner made by the men in my life. . .
It was a great day spent with my kids. If they didn't live here I was able to enjoy a fun skype chat!

Most of you know my mom bred Missie to have puppies for her neighbor and my granddaughter, Tori. It has been fun watching these babies develop their personalities. I guess all you had to do is post on their blog why you think your favorite LSS should carry Crate Paper. Audrey, who teaches "Everyday Layouts" here at Scrapp'n Savvy, left this commit on their blog. . .

Audrey's comment: "I would love to see my NEW LSS, Scrappn' Savvy, in Spring, TX, get some new lines! It is a rather new store, and Karrie is doing a great job getting it going so far! I know these Crate Paper lines will bring a lot more people through the doors!!!"

And she won! Whoot Whoot! I am so excited. I had just ordered the new Create Paper lines for Scrapp'n Savvy and they are in! I have Birthday on my mind. Tomorrow is my baby's 15th birthday. Where have all the years gone. I remember when he was just a baby. I miss those days when my house was full of boys to love, teach, spoil and play with. Now I am on the bridge of a new season in my life. One I know would be much more enjoyable if my grandkids didn't live so far away.

This month also marks Scrapp'n Savvy's first birthday! Looking back on this year I have so many fond memories. I know Scrapp'n Savvy wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all of you. Thanks for all your support!

UGH! Ice!

My boys were so sad we didn't get snow and ice is very scary! We will be making a few changes on this weekend's event in hope to keep all of you safe.

P.J. Crop tonight February 4th has been moved to tomorrow night. I feel pretty confident you may be able to arrive safely however returning home after the roads start to freeze again is not safe. They say we will not be having freezing weather tomorrow so I would love to have everyone over tomorrow night for a warm home cooked meal, a make-n-take and a scrapp'n good time.

Lickety Slip Class for February 5th will be delayed for two hours. We will let the sun do it's job to melt the roads and we will have class at 12:00 (noon). If you live so far away and still feel it is unsafe to travel please do not try to come. I will save your kit for you and you will be able to get it when it is safer to travel.

Savvy Swap will also be delayed to begin tomorrow at 3:00pm

P.J. Crop will begin at 6:00 pm

What an exciting day this can be for the Houston area. Snow can be fun but only if we are safe! I am going to have the am class of Lickety today so if you don't have to drive to far and feel safe about coming I will be teaching. As for the evening class it will be rescheduled for February 17 at 6:30 pm. And if you don't feel safe about coming this morning we I will be having class for the Thursday am class February 10 at 10:00 am,.

Oh What fun!

It wouldn't be a Friday night crop at Scrapp'n Savvy without a yummy dinner. Aunt Paula, I mean "Aunt Mae" has done it again. This is a must have soup!

German Country Soup

Created by Scrapp’n Savvy’s Aunt Mae
8 good size russet potatoes boiled and cubed
3 ribs celery diced
2-3 carrots, thinly slice
4-5 cups baby spinach leaves
1 small sweet onion diced (optional)
3-4 cloves garlic, minced fine
16oz smoked sausage, cooked and cubed
64 oz cream cheese
½ tsp pepper
1 tsp salt (to taste)
Few drops of liquid smoke
½ paprika

Put all ingredients in a large crock pot. Cook on high for at least 6 hours. To thicken you can all ¾ cup of instant potato flakes. (Optional)

This weekend was so fun! I love Fridays because I LOVE the P.J. Crops. It is so fun for me to see what you all are creating. The make-n-take was designed with the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Madison Avenue Collections. It is a perfect combination of brown and pink. Each guest was able to pick from three different titles (Sisters, Happily Ever After,and Cherish every moment together. We do one 12x12 as a make-n-take and the coordinate layout is always available for purchase.

Aunt Paula created another fantastic soup. Oh so Yummy . .
Grandma Thelma’s Italian Soup
For Rosa Sauce:
3 to 4 Cups Half and Half or Whipping Cream
2 – 15 oz. Cans Tomato Sauce
1 – 5 to 6 oz. Can Tomato Paste
¼ Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
4 Garlic cloves, minced fine
Salt to taste
Blend well over low to medium heat to blend flavors.
For Soup Base:
1 – 32 oz. Container of Beef Broth, ( not stock)
1 Cup Red Cabbage, shredded
4 Carrots, thinly sliced
3 Ribs Celery, thinly sliced
6 or 7 Roma tomatoes, diced
2 – 15 oz. Cans Cannelini or Northern White beans
2 tsp. Basil, crushed
2 tsp. Oregano, crushed
1 tsp. Rosemary, crushed
¼ Cup Fresh Parsley, optional
Pinch of Red Pepper flakes, optional
Put all ingredients into a large stockpot, or large crockpot, and cook on medium heat for one hour. Then, add the rosa sauce slowly, stirring constantly. When thoroughly blended, cook on low for at least 4 hours, but 6 to 8 hours is preferable. Serve topped with parmesan cheese.

This was served with a fresh green salad and toasted garlic bread! Super Yummy!

It is a beautiful day in Houston. I love the wintry feel in the air. It always amazes me how magical the lifting of the fog in the morning by the rising of the sun seems. Now I have a glowing fire warming Scrapp'n Savvy. The warmth on my back warms not only my body but comforts my soul. I love coming here everyday. I love sharing ideas with you all as well as creating projects and pages with all the new paper crafting products coming in.

This weeks layout was designed by Millie. Her use of punches always inspires me.

Her Generations Class is tomorrow and I love the paper she is using this quarter.

Friday's P.J. Crop was a night of fun we had great creative girl bonding, yummy food and a make-n-take

For dinner we had Aunt Paula's White Chili

1.5 lbs chicken breast cooked and cut into bite size pieces

2 cans white northern beans

1 can mild green chilies

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp cumin

.5 tsp chili powder

1.5 large containers of chicken broth

.5 cup of diced sweet onion

.25 cup of celery diced (OPTIONAL)

.5 cup carrots diced (OPTIONAL)

Add 1 to 1.5 cups of roué for thickening (cook roué to glossy stage but don’t brown (ADD LAST)

Add all ingredients to crock pot and set on high.

Remember to add roué last

Yum yum!

We want to thank all who came to the Savvy Sampler. We loved having you. Each session was full not only of people but of creative fun! Each guest was able to make five pages to this adorable mini book. The fun didn't end there, everyone got a kit from the other teachers who didn't teach at their session.

The cover was designed by Nancy Wyatt who teaches our Make Mine Mini class. She has some fantastic projects lined up for the next three months. Come in and see them in person a picture would never do them justice.

I designed this page. It has a matchbook fold to hide the journaling note book inside. I teach Lickety Slip the first of every month and Razzill Dazzill Bazzill

This page was designed by Debra. She is our Stamp specialist. In her class you will always learn some fantastic stamping tricks as well as make a project or cards.

I love Friday nights at Scrapp'n Savvy because I enjoy cropping with such such amazing women. You all inspire and encourage me and I thank you! I was called to repentance last night. I was posting the make-n-take and the dinner recipe and with move into the new location that has somehow slipped to the wayside. So by request I am going to strive harder to make sure this happens.

This month we have been doing soup and salad for our P.J. Crop feast. Last night we had Yummy black bean soup and corn casserole.

Corn Casserole

Melt 1/2 stick margarine in casserole dish -- Combine following in bowl:

1 (16 oz) can whole kernel corn (do not drain)
1 (16 oz) can creamed style corn
2 eggs
1 sm can green chilis (Optional)
1 box Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Pour into casserole and bake at 350 until done. (approx 45 minutes)

Black Bean Soup, modified from a Weight Watchers recipe

1 spray(s) cooking spray
1 - 2 bell peppers(or frozen peppers ), finely chopped
1 cup celery, finely chopped
4 garlic clove(s), minced
45 oz canned black beans, undrained, divided (three 15 oz cans)
1 package spice mix
1/2 cup water
14 1/2 oz fat-free chicken broth, or vegetable broth
10 oz canned tomatoes with green chilis, such as Rotel Tomatoes
16 oz canned diced or pureed tomatoes
11 oz canned yellow corn, drained

Instructions
Coat bottom of a large stockpot with cooking spray or one to two teaspoons of oil. Add bell peppers, celery, and garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until veggies are soft but not brown, about 5 minutes.

Place 1 - 2 of the cans of beans and broth in blender and puree until smooth; or smash with a spoon or potato masher, and add to stockpot.

Stir third can of beans (do not puree first), tomatoes and green chilies, tomatoes, and corn into stockpot. Bring to a boil, lower heat to medium. Combine spice package and water together, stir into pot and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. Yields about 1 1/2 cups of soup per serving

Breakfast in on me. I will have a professional photographer here to capture that special moment when you little whisper their Christmas wish to Santa. A special scrapbook kit has been made to help you preserve these memories.

We are so excited about some up coming classes. This week at Scrapp'n Savvy

Tuesday morning November 16 is Millie's Generation class. Class starts at 10am. In her class you will learn to travel back in time to find your roots and she will help you preserve your findings in an amazing scrapbook.

Wednesday November 17 evening at 6pm I will help you create an adorable watch band. With these watch bands you can use the same watch face over and over again and just change the bands. This is a great gift idea for the holidays!

Thursday November 18th at 10am and 6pm I will be teaching Razzill Dazzill Bazzill. In this class we will be making 3 12x12 layouts learning new techniques and playing with new released products.

Friday November 19th you can come and scrap your night away with us. Always a fun make-n-take and yummy food.

Saturday November 20th at 10am you can join Leslie to make 8 fantastic football themed layouts.

Happy Halloween

I love this ad that was put out by my church. It reminds me of Halloween. For me Halloween is all about family time and make-believe. Often we would have family themed costumes which would draw us closer both in preparation time and in deliverance as we came into character. I love how the whole neighborhood opens their doors. It didn’t matter if I was the one staying home to greet the neighbors or if I was walking the street, it always warmed my heart. Today my kids are mostly grown and we don’t walk the street anymore but we still will have our family time. This Halloween will all stay home cuddled in our comfortable spots having our own “Bones” marathon and still we will eagerly press pause to greet our neighborhood goblins. I hope you all have a save Halloween. May you make this day a great family day. Families are forever and fun memories create stronger ties!

This month is a special one for me. I have had several people close to me take on the battle of breast cancer. I held my mom's hand through her struggle and I know what a scary thing the battle can be. To all who have or are fighting this battle our thoughts prayers are with you. This week's layout was designed by Leslie. She is a very talented person on my design team and if you know her, you will know she has your best interests at heart. She lovingly designed this layout with my mom in mind. Well my mom is out of town and I don't have too many pictures she would approve of. I chose to put another amazing person on Leslie's page, my sister Lynnette. Her battle started 5 years ago this month and she is so grateful to be here enjoying and celebrating life. I love you Lynnette!

This Weeks layout was designed by my mom, Millie Jones. She used the new Bo-bunny line "whoo-ligans". I loved Halloween when my boys were little. It was fun watching them pull out the costume box and play. They would try on old costumes to discover how much they grew. There would be some mix=matching of costume parts to create new costumes and then there would always be shopping and creating to add to the box. All these memories are best kept in a scrapbook. This layout would be great for all those moments with two pockets and many tags.

Debra designed this weeks weekly layout "Spooky Fun" She used the printed paper from My Mind's Eye latest release. In this "Haunted" line, each print is printed on a both sides of a Kraft cardstock and some part is flocked with black so stinken cute!

Debra Teaches her class "Stamped with Love" this Wednesday. Do to popular request she has opened an evening class. If you would like to sign up she does have a few evening spots still opened. I totally loved her fall cards and the pumpkin is so cute!

Happy Monday my scrapping friends. It is hard to believe I woke up in Camby Indiana I got to cuddle with my sweet Tori and now I am working in my studio here at Scrapp'n Savvy in Spring Texas. I miss her already!

When i got her I was greeted by my fantastic mom who was working on my class kits for tomorrow. She is so wonderful. Thanks Marianne, Barbara and Pat for helping mom with my kits.

Never a dull moment!

This week has been a full of hard work, loving support of friends and family, scrapping, teaching and bonding with family and fellow paper crafters. My heart is full of gratitude for a loving husband who allows me to visit with our children and granddaughter, parents who work so hard to help me fulfill my dreams, supportive friends who help kit, create weekly layouts and did everything in their power to have a successful P.J. Crop while I was in Indy and for a best friend who spends her spare time typing instructions, searching the Internet for much needed items, and giving the moral support needed to keep me going when I feel discouraged. I love you all and I thank you! ((((hug)))

Tuesday I taught my Razzill Dazzill Bazzill Class at Scrapp'n Savvy. We did three interactive pages to prepare for the upcoming holiday season.

For Halloween we did a spinner, imagine four adorable expression showing in the spider window as you spin to each picture.

Wednesday morning bright and early I headed to Indy to play with Miss Mae, my adorable granddaughter. She was a little shy when we saw each other but shortly after arriving home she showed me her book collection in a matter of minutes. Not because she has very few books but because my gifted "Tori-Bear" is a speed reader! LOL It was so fun watching her flip through each picture book.

It was good to graduate from watching her to holding her as she shared her favorite books.

Thursday Rachel, Tori and I headed to Camp Camby for a weekend of scrapbooking and a little teaching. I was excited to hold my Razzill Dazzill Bazzill class with my Indy friends and to help Rachel work on a scrapbook for Tori. Tori turned out to be the BEST helper

Rachel and I sat across from the most remarkable young woman. She is a nurse who was struck by an illness that left her without the use of her legs. I am so glad I met Julie, she was such an inspiration to me. She is so positive and out going. I believe there is nothing that girl can't do. She plays tennis, water ski, ice hockey, volunteers several hours with Make A Wish. She reminded me of all the blessing we have in our life and that there is always something to be glad about. Thanks Julie for all the laughs and sharing your stories. Not such a great picture. I took it on accident while I was trying to turn off the camera but will be forever grateful that I have it

Two Sisters own the store Just a Little Bit Moore and they host this crop twice a year. There isn't a moment (96 hours) of this crop that you don't see them. That is one long work shift. You can tell they have a passion for scrapbooking and a deep love for their customers. Suzie even made sure she personally granted "many blessing" to each cropper. Tori included. . .

As a store owner I know how much work goes into an event like this and found it refreshing to see that they took a few moments to nap and rejuvenate themselves.

I love these ladies and I pray I will be able to run Scrapp'n Savvy the way they run their store. Going into Just a Little Bit Moore is like coming home. It is a happy place where you are greeted with a warm smile, loving heart, and a helping hand. Thanks girls for all you do! It was hard saying goodbye to the wonderful scrappers of Indy. I am looking forward to coming again. I hope some of my new friends will be brave enough to venture out to Texas and spend a weekend cropping with us at Scrapp'n Savvy.

I know my hardest good bye will come tomorrow when I have to leave this part of my family. I will forever cherish this weekend. I love you Jared, Rachel and Tori!

I look forward to exploring many more things with Tori as she grows.

Each visit I make either to Arizona of Indiana I walk away with a full heart. I am so grateful both of my grandchildren have come to loving homes with fantastic parents!

Have you ever watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition with Ty Pennington? He gets so excited and dramatic as he attempts to convey the reality of the show. There always seems to be a little drama with the time crunch as the show is drawing to an end and the family is due back from their well deserved vacation. Let me tell you girls, the drama is real. There has been a few set backs that made us all wonder will we really be ready for the Sampler? ? ? Besides not having enough hours in a day, the sink will be a day late, the parking lot will not be finished, some of the new product will not arrive in time and my parents truck was broken into while at their daily run to Lowe's. Someone felt the need to have my mom's cell phone and dad's GPS system and radio. It is rough when you see bad things happening to wonderful people. I am so sorry mom and dad. I would be ungrateful if I didn't express my gratitude to all who have works so many long hours to make this happen. Thanks mom and dad for believing in me and sacrificing so much to make my dreams come true. Thanks to Leslie and Susan for the many hours of kitting. Thanks Uncle Jim and Aunt Paula for stepping in with an eager helping hand. Thanks Rigo and Michelle for your endless hours of computer help. Thanks to my husband and children for picking up the slack where I have fallen short on my household chores. Thanks to a fantastic teaching staff your creativity and ideas are amazing. This list is endless because there have been so many helping hands. However I want to thank you, my students, consumers and friends! For wanting a store bad enough that you are willing to jam into one parking driveway, walk past our garbage cans into our back yard where you are greeted by two barking dogs only to be called back out again to move your car. Thanks for your support and understanding. Together we will build Scrapp'n Savvy to become your personal studio where you can learn the latest trend and have the newest products at your fingertips. Phase one is just a day away from being complete and phase two has already begun. I am so excited to have you come to the Sampler.

Calling all painters!

I love this land. It has that quiet peaceful feeling that allows you to feel you are out in the wilderness away from every care and concern of the world yet you are only right around the corner. As for Scrapp'n Savvy's new home, it is coming right along. The leaking water pipe is fixed, all the mold infested walls have been replaced and the new bathroom fixtures are being installed.
These are the new bathroom walls. Dad got them up and mom is coming around with the mud to fill in the seams.

Dad moves on to the next wall requiring mending. Say good by to the Aztec cut out
Next step to get rid of the trailer that the house seem to be built around. From the front of the house you would never know but taking a little walk around to the back and UGH!

I will share more pictures next Wednesday.

So my friends who love to paint (hehehehe) It is just about time to put paint on these new walls. Starting at 8:00 am Monday morning September 20th we will be painting and you know what they say, "Many hands, or brushes, makes light work. Lunch will be on us!

Sorry for the delay in this post. Life is crazy here at Scrapp'n Savvy. We are so excited about our new location. Because so many man hours are required to get us in by the Sampler on September 24 and 25th we need to make Millies Memories a kit only class this month. Her class was scheduled for this week. Here is a sneek peek of one of the three layouts that will be included in this kit only class. We know how Millie loves punches so we will be punching all the pieces in the kits that needs to be punched. As for the weekly layout this week. It was designed by me. I teach two different classes here at Scrapp'n Savvy. Lickety Slip and Razzill Dazzill Bazzill. This weekly layout has a vacation theme. The quote on the layout is by David Brenner. It says, "It isn't how much time you spend somewhere that makes it memoreable; it's how you spend your time". Times are hard for most of us these days and it doesn't matter if you were able to take an exotic vacation or you ended up using your vacation days on a "stay-cation" the point is you take time to make memories with those you love. Some of my favorite memories where of vacations spent at home just bonding as a family as we took an imaginary trip to some foreign country, learning some key words of their native tongue and eating dishes from their land. Savvy Swap

This was our calendar swap. Each person was assigned a month to design a 8x8 page for the Karen Foster magnetic calendar board and a month title strip. They turned out so adorable. I love mine and I can't wait to hang my in the new Scrapp'n Savvy crop room. It seems that a couple of gals sneaked away before we could get their picture. Not pictured is Sherri Mc Spadden who designed January and Cindy Wisemore who created October.

P.J. Crop plus alittle bit more!

My friday started with a day crop with all of my Creative Escape Savvy Scrappers. These gals came to Creative Escape with me this year. The day was planned so we could gather after Creative Escape to share pictures and finish projects.
The day took an turn of events when my mom called from the new location asking me to come take a picture of their new findings. It seems the ceiling was being held up by a coke can. Crazy!

Well they all wanted to see the making of Scrapp'n Savvy (mom wasn't to thrilled -hehehehe-)
So they had a taste of our version of Extreme Makeover. I is still a big mess yet I think they all could see our vision. Kurtis took a picture of us out on the walk way dad built so you all could have and easier time getting you stuff to the door.

The P.J. Crop was a delight. We had a visitor from England and friends reconnected after several months of no contact. I love how the common intrest in paper crafting can and does create life long friendships. For dinner we had. . .

Chicken Parmesan with Linguine and Broccoli, modified from a Kraft Foods Recipe
prep time 10 min
total time 38 min
makes 4 servings

Ingredients

4 small Boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1 lb.)
2 Tbsp. Fat-free milk
1/2 cup KRAFT Reduced Fat Parmesan Style Grated Topping
2 Tbsp. Olive oil
1 Bell Pepper, chopped
3 cloves Garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can rotel tomatoes
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 tsp. Black pepper
1 Tbls dried oregano and parsley
1/4 lb. Linguine, uncooked
1 pkg. (16 oz.) frozen broccoli cuts, thawed
1 cup KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Make It
© DIP chicken in milk then in grated topping, turning to evenly coat both sides of each breast.
© HEAT oil in large nonstick skillet on medium heat. Add peppers and garlic; cook and stir 3 min. Add chicken; cook 3 min. on each side. Add tomato sauce, mushrooms and pepper; cover. Simmer 15 min. or until chicken is done (165ºF).
© MEANWHILE, cook pasta in large saucepan as directed on package, adding broccoli to boiling water for the last 2 min.
© SPRINKLE mozzarella over chicken; cook 2 to 3 min. or until mozzarella is melted. Drain pasta mixture. Serve with chicken.

Scrapp'n Savvy - more than just a paper craft store!

Finding a home for Scrapp'n Savvy has been on the back of our minds for the past several months. We tried so many rental locations but none of them would lead us to our ultimate goal to have a place where we could host retreats. Well my parents bought a beautiful five acre wooded property with a very ugly house. My parents are known for buying eyesores. They have a gift for making a neighborhood eyesore into a coveted masterpiece. I watched them create these miracles all my life but I also saw the amount of work and sacrifice that went into each project. I was so happy for them when they bought their Houston home. It didn't have any major work requirements to just be able to move in and start living. But out of habit or now I think this is what they do for fun, they still spent the first few months painting, wallpapering, changing flooring and building a beautiful wood shop(hehehehe). I know they are getting older and I thought their major remodeling days were over. Not my mom though, that girl is a fighter! She saw from the very beginning how that ugly shack they called a house could become a beautiful Retreat center for crafters and families.

So the work has begun. We broke it up into three phases. Phase one would get a crop room, bathroom, small store, and kitchen. Phase two will give us a bigger crop room, better kitchen, and a dorm that will house 14 overnight guest with a nice large bathroom, a laundry room, and office. In phase three we will add the full size store and change the current store into a private room for special quests.

The house smelt like mold from day one and we found the source. It seems there was a broken pipe leaking into one of the bathrooms. The moldy walls are down and the pipe is fixed.

22830 Fritz Lane Spring Tx will be our new home. Phase one will be done September 23 just in time for the SCRAPP'N SAMPLER. So sign up to day.
